  1. It is very possible she will be lonely. Especially if she is not seen most of the day (not saying that you don't see her a lot). Try get another gerbil! A female, around 5 weeks.

  2. well i dnt no to much about gerbils but i no they need at least a buddy that is the same s*x if u dnt want mor babies but this link has tons of gerbil info so check it out

  3. Gerbils are social and should be kept in same s*x pairs. Lone gerbils tend to live shorter, less healthy lives. They can also become unhappy and become unsocial with humans. Two isn't more work than one. In fact, one could be more work because you have to find more time to spend with it trying to make up for the lack of companionship. However, no matter how much time you spend with her, you can't make up for the fact that she must groom herself, sleep alone, and play with herself when you're not around. You can't be there 24/7 for her like a gerbil friend can be. I have two females and they ADORE each other. They're always together. They always sleep together and groom each other. They play with each other. I can honestly say that if I had only gotten one, the one that I did have would be depressed and unhappy.

I would recommend you try getting another female around the same age. Introduce them using the split cage method. Here's a good site for it:

Babies tend to take to new cage mates better than adults would. I think your gerbil and the new gerbil could be happily together within a week if everything goes well.

As for name, it's really up to you. I chose the names Kassie and Kali for my gerbils. At the time, I really liked those names. Now, I really feel they look like a Kassie and a Kali. It just fits them well. You can choose a name based on her coloring, personality, markings, etc. Here are some female names that I really like:

Daisy, Vegas, Cider, Bella, Dixie, Duchess, Lexus, Nutmeg, Penelope, Pandora, Taffy, Delilah, Kacey, Lucy, Lacy, Kali, Kassie, Pixie, Bailey, Layla, Tippy, Darla, Hazel, Cleopatra, Isis, Razzle, Twilight, and Eclipse.

I don't think there's anything special you need to do. Just make sure she can reach her food and water and doesn't get too cold. Gerbils are desert animals, so they can't really be in very cold weather. Be sure her water bottle is low enough for her to reach. Good luck :]

  4. no gerbils like to be alone when they reach sexual maturity

  5. Everyone always thinks that they would be lonely but they actually like to be alone I researched. With another gerbil, your gerbil may get over stressed. Trust me your gerbil will just all your love. Mine does.

A good name could be about her traits, fur, or even your favorite foods? I named mine a classic.....Oreo! You don't have to do anything really special except keep her in good condition and safe.

    Glad I could help! =)
