  1. of course you still need to take your cat to the vet to get proper medical treatment.

  2. do you mean intestinal worms? or earth worms?

if you dont know the difference, i would bring some of the worms to the vet to identify them.

i have never seen intestinal worms. every check up my vet puts the cats p**p under a microscope like thing and looks for worms.

if he sees them, he treats the cat.

indoor/outdoor cats, they eat everything, so they get worms.

  3. If you are seeing the worms, they are likely tapeworm segments (like fat white rice grains.)  Possibly roundworms, if it is a kitten.

Over-the-counter dewormers don't get tapeworms.  If your cat has been in recently, and your veterinarian has a current weight for her, s/he may be willing to dispense the proper medication for you to give at home.  It might be worth it to take the cat in so that the technician can administer the medication.  That won't be expensive, and cats can be tough to pill!

  4. HI,

How much you love your cat depends on whether or not you take it to the Vet.   If you just consider it a barn cat then medicate it with over the counter medication...  go on line and research the worms to see what type of worm you viewed and take it from there.

    Good Luck &

  5. Have you taken your cat to the vet?  If not, you really shouldn't be treating him for worms on your own...there are different kinds and the vet is the only one that can diagnose.  As for any worms on bedding, or anywhere a cat has been you need to either get rid of it and start over, or if you can wash it in a washing machine on hot water with bleach - do that, but be aware, you may not kill them all, and it will reinfest the cats (or you and other pets).  The vet will be able to advise you best however.

  6. If your child had worms, wouldn't you want the pediatrician to examine the child?  Your vet needs to see your cat.  He cannot prescribe a medication without determining the overall health of the cat.

    Good Luck!
