Question:

If I have to get my tooth pulled will my wisdom tooth migrate to replace it?

4 years ago I had a cracked molar capped. The cap is starting to come off because of the pressure from my wisdom teeth which have been growing for 1-2 years. If I get that tooth pulled will my wisdom tooth naturally move down towards the front of my mouth more? Isn't that the reason we grow them? Thanks.

  1. Your teeth never stop moving, so it is entirely possible that your wisdom tooth could migrate into the edentulous space where your molar used to be.  

    Orthodontic work could also help pull the wisdom tooth into position if neccesarry.


  2. WHEN YOU HAPPEN TO LOSE A SECOND PERMANENT MOLAR, THE WISDOM TOOTH CAN  OFTEN TAKE ITS PLACE.
