If I helped someone broker a deal by just introducing to businessmen to each other

and one of them gives me a small percentage point of the deal for my efforts, do I still have to pay taxes on that? Let's say the deal is for $1,000,000 and I get 2 points off the deal, how much would I have to pay on taxes if anything?

Yes!  If it's income, it's income.  It doesn't matter where it came from.
