There is no guarantee of return. But you may expect a 10-15% return. The return is totally market dependent.+ you will get a risk cover.

Now the main point:

From your question I presume that you are looking for some investment option rather than taking risk cover. In that case you may look for some other investment options which gives a decent return and flexibiliy of investment.

Please consider Mutual Fund for Investments because MF investments give good return in a long run. Keep Investment and Insurance seperate.

Boss LIC's returns are very less, you will get very less amount because the total amount accumulated will be based on the NAV of the fund and it's performance.

First check the returns of LIC as a whole.

LIC generally gives least returns, go for some othe insurance company with good brand name and return,  like SBI Life Insurance.

It's unit link plan has a NAV of Rs. 35 in the down market, It was started in october 2006 and in just 1 1/2 years it has given 200% returns.

Since profit plus is related to the market. The return will depend on the performance of the share market. Instead of profit plus I would advice you to take a term plan from LIC and invest rest of the amount in mutual funds.
