  1. your credit score goes up when they see you are using it and paying it in time and not charging more than half of your limit

  3. No. also I've heard that if you don't use the card some company's will cancel it.

You will have a credit history, but it won't be a good one--it will just show that you have an open card, which is a negative.  You build credit by using it and paying it off responsibly.  If you're scared of using your credit card and getting carried away, just make sure that you pay off the balance COMPLETELY every month--that way you shouldn't get charged any fees, but you'll build up a good credit history.

    Remember, though, that while using a credit card responsibly is a great first step towards a good credit history, your credit will still be kind of limited until you work on paying off a "major purchase," a car or a house.
