It's pretty self explanatory, if I were to get married and wanted to keep my last name but add on my NEW last name, which would go first, MY name or HIS last name?

I have a bet running with my boyfriend,

  2. your's will go first:)

  3. If you have the maiden name of Clark, and your husband is Kent, you legal married name is Suzi Leigh Clark-Kent.

  4. I don't think it matters which way round they go.

I use both my maiden name or my married name, but with both of my passports my maiden name goes before my married name.

  5. I am married and kept my last name......my husband's last name doesn't appear.

  6. Technically, it's yours - his in the Anglo tradition.

But practical reasons give you the right to switch it if there's going to be a goofy name created. The worst I've ever seen was doctor who took the name Kok-Schure. Some names should not be hyphenated. Hammerman-Rosenberg was also a bit much to type 100 times a day. The cutest I've seen is Hamm-Berger and Maltes-Burger. Burger-Maltes just wouldn't have sounded half as cool.
