So for my birthday my parents asked me what I wanted and I told them I wanted to go to New Zealand.

Im not sure if Im going but I just wanted to know if I could still use my blackberry without being charged any international fees or anything like that?

Also I want to know since I have unlimited text will I be able to text if Im in New Zealand?

  1. It depends on your service plan.  I have AT&T, and I went to Mexico last week.  I asked AT&T to add international roaming to my plan so I could use my phone in case of emergencies.  It didn't cost anything (although they do have plans you have to pay for), but if I received or made a call, received or sent a text ... the cost was much higher (I think $0.99 a minute for calls and $1.25 for texts).

It also depends on where you're going.  If NZ allows you to use their cell phone towers, yes, you can call and text -- but it'll cost you and it WON'T be part of your unlimited text package.  You'll have to pay extra.

  2. It depends on the carrier and plan you have. Just call your service provider and ask.
