I live in the Southwest Suburbs and had to buy the Cook County sticker. My friend who lives in Chicago doesn't know anything about it.

  1. Cook county does not issue auto stickers.  Plate stickers are issued by the state of Illinois and some cities in Illinois issued city stickers.   Residents of Chicago are required to have a city sticker on their vehicles.

  2. You have to get a city sticker to live in the city.  Here is the website with all the details.
