If I make a rule of no harassment in my group, and someone doesn't follow it, can I revoke their membership?

For instance, I want to make sure that in the messaging area, there is no adult content posting, or anything that is considered harassment or slander, or harms the other members, I'm wondering if I can revoke that persons membership?

  1. If you have a member who is violating this rule, might I suggest that you first give them a WRITTEN WARNING? If they do it again, I'd say a month suspension is in order, with the understanding that should they continue to violate this rule (once they have been re-instated), their membership will be permanently REVOKED. This should apply to ALL members of the group, and be thoroughly understood prior to becoming a member.

  2. give them 1 warning

then,if they do it again, delete them.

  3. Yes, if you are the group owner, you can remove any member from your group for breaking a group rule or any other reason.

(If you remove a member, they can rejoin later if you approve them.  If you ban a member, they can never rejoin your group unless you unban them.)

In my groups, we warn the member and send a copy of the group rules via private email.  If the member persists, we ban him/her.  If it is a serious offense, we just go ahead an ban him/her without warning.

  4. Yes, if you are the owner or the priviliged moderator, you can remove or ban the member who does not follow rules of the group. Here is how you can do that:

    1. Go to your group's homepage.

    2. On the left-hand side find "members"

    3. On the Members page, find the member and click "Remove" in the upper right to remove anyone from the group.

You can permanently ban the member by clicking Ban in the upper right of the Members area.

How do I ban a member?

The Ban Member feature should be used with care. Banning removes the member and prevents the member from rejoining the group until the ban is removed.

    To ban a member:

    1. Click Members from the list on the left of any page.

    2. Find the person you want to ban.

    3. Click Edit Membership next to their name.

    4. Click Ban Member at the bottom of the page.

Note: You can also ban the author of a message directly from the individual message page by clicking Ban author under their Yahoo! ID.

Note: You can ban a person from your group even if that person is not already a member. This allows you to prevent people you know to be troublesome from joining your group in the first place.

  5. you would do this under the files- create a text file, this way you can add to it later. you will enter a file name, a description and choose when it's sent-

    Upon pending membership

    Upon joining group

    Upon leaving group

    On rejected membership

    Upon being banned from group

    Every 2 weeks

    Every month

enter your content in the File Content and when done, click create file at bottom.

if you're the owner, you have control of who is a member and who is not.

locate the member- click edit membership on the left right below their ID- next page bottom more to the middle and right, choices:

    remove member

    ban member

not sure what you'll see after you click here, you may need to later click save changes

    good luck
