I'm from Ohio and maybe within the next year or so I might move to (LA) California....I'm not sure at all yet. But if I do go I was wondering is it best if I sell my car for money and buy a car in California or should I drive it there? My car is a 98 Toyota Avalon and in good condition.

Also, if you're buying a decent car in LA how much does a decent car usually cost? Or do they have a great transporation system that you don't really need one (subway, busses, etc)

  1. Cars cost as much as they do whereever you are.  maroney stickers cannot be changed.

  2. yes you need a car in LA

spend some good money having your car tuned up and new tires etc. then drive it until it dies.

it the least expensive and most practical way.

if you don't think it's able to make the trip sell it but realize without a car you'll be hurting for a ride to work.

  3. You are going to need a car from DAY 1 when you get there. So unless you've arranged for some when you get there, you are going to be desperate and buy the first junk that you get your hands on.

But just make sure that if you decide to drive it to So Cal, you don't do it when it is snowing NOR when it is too hot.  Car tend to die in those weathers.

Also if your car is dark color, it would not be a good idea.  I visited L.A. last year (from NYC) and didn't realize how hot it can get there.  I was going to drive my car there (which I love doing) but my black car would have caught fire in the sun out there.

    Good Luck...
