  1. You can't literally fail the ACT. Unlike the SAT, they do not deduct points for wrong answers. Therefore, a negative score is impossible. You can, however, score a high score. Unfortunately, most state colleges have a minimum requirement for standardized testing. For Florida universities, that score is a 24. Just study up, retake the test, and see how much more you know!

  2. You can't pass or fail the ACT.  A perfect score is 36.  The test is designed to make 20 the average score.  The actual average score is around 22 or 23.  If you randomly guess answers, you should theoretically score about 15.  I would suggest preparing better by buying an ACT prep book or attending a seminar (there were 2 available at my high school) before retaking the test.  Most people do retake the test.  Another option would be to try the SAT test, which isn't easier, but is different, so you may do better on it.  I believe more colleges actually accept the SAT than the ACT.

  3. Decide for yourself. The ACT is out of 36. You got half. There is no real passing or failing with the ACT, but the higher score the better you look with colleges. I would suggest taking it again to at least get a 20.

  4. There is no "passing" grade on the ACT, but you can compare your score to the national averages.  This link shows the national percentiles for ACT scores.

  5. i don't know, but i'm interested to find out myself!
