  1. Hello,

(ANS) If you have broadband and only use broadband for non broadcast service i.e. are NOT watching TV programs live in real time then you defintely DON'T require a TV license (they are just spinning you a load of technical non sense, putting the frighteners on you to squeeze a fee out of you).

NOTE: Broadband has 100% NOTHING to do with TV and thus definitely does not require you to have a TVL.

**ONLY if the TV program is viewed live in real time i.e. actually while its being broadcast through other channels as well such as via a TV ariel etc. Does the law require you to own a license.

**Using the BBC's iPlayer catch up service does NOT require a license because that's viewing content that is not considered broadcast i.e. its after the program has been shown live. Its not broadcast by definition.

YES! 1% of the UK population don't use or watch TV and don't have a license as a result.

    Kind Regards Ivan

  2. I would think they are right.  It`s like having a TV, but saying that its always off honest I don`t watch it?

If your computer can display graphics and you have a source of TV then you would need a licence!

I am guessing and do not know for sure tho!  Personnaly I don`t agree with the TV licence anyway, I pay enough for Sky TV.

  3. You need a TV License to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, digital box, DVD or video recorder, PC, laptop or mobile phone to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV.

  4. Probably cos the BBC won't let  you get away with anything.

  5. The question you should be asking yourself is. Can I get caught if I do need a TV license. The BBC records office get informed by retailers when you buy a TV from a shop and this is their proof for prosecution but I don't know if internet suppliers come under the same legislation. I have looked all over the internet and at BBC licensing records office to find out and found nothing at all so I took it that they probably dont.

  6. Probably because you could view some programmes on your p.c.

  7. Sadly, yes, you do need a TV licence. This is simply because of being able to watch TV through your computer. I also think you have to have a TV licence by law.
