If I owe money to wachovia and have an achount with Wa-Mu, can wachovia take the money from Wa-Mu?

ok so I owe some money to Wachovia and opened a account with Wa-Mu the other day, but was wondering can wachovia get the money I have at wa-mu?

  1. Since Wachovia and WaMu are now married, then you may be subject to setoffs between the companies.  

    If they do come after you for a setoff, you may have grounds to cause them to reverse it, depending on the nature of the account that you had previously, the amount you owed, and the aging of the account.

    You may need to see an attorney, if push comes to shove.  Good luck!


  2. If you have a checking account with Wa Mu  you should of recieved a temporary checks. You can cash them at an Wa Mu bank and put the money into your other account at Wachovia. Or if you have online banking you may be able to transfer money from one bank to another. i know you can transfer money from one Wachovia account to another account at the bank or outside at another finanical insitution. But, go online to Wa Mu and see if you can transfer money fom one bank to another. i hope this info helps.
