  1. I had a traders insurance once and was insured to drive any thing with wheels belonging to anyone. But I had liability only.

    So it depends on their insurance. Are they covered? If they are covered you are covered.


  2. No.  It's illegal to drive a car, or let someone drive your car, who is not covered on your insurance.  So you'll have to pay in full, and further legal action might be taken

    The problem is his mistake is paid out from your insurance, insurance company may move your record to the high risk driver category and your premium may jack up sky high.
