If I passed my driving test today, how long will it take to get insured on my parents car?

I want to get insured on my parents car, my mum and dad are insured on it, and they are about to insure me, how long before I can drive it legally?

Your parents can pay over the telephone using a debit or credit card. A word in your shell like, their is no rule that says they have to insure you and if they do they are doing you a great favour because it is going to cost a h**l of a lot of money not to say inconvenience if you dent it.

As soon as your parents call the insurance company and add you as a driver, you will be insured.  You can legally drive anyones car (with their permission) because you have a license.  Insurance is on the car, not the driver.  So, in actuality, you don't have to be added to anyones policy.  That being said, if you got into an accident and weren't on your parents policy, the insurance company would cover it, but would probably cancel your policy afterwards for not declaring all licensed drivers in the household.
