  1. may vary from broker to broker, but generally - yes, it can.

  2. At Fidelity you have to specifically enter an extended hours limit order for that pre-market of after market session and the order expires at the end of that session.  I believe GTC orders only apply to the regular markets.

At thinkorswim.com if you enter an "extended hours" day order pre-market, it extends into the regular and after market unless you set an expire time.  Although, I think GTC orders just apply during regular markets (there are radio buttons for day, gtc or extended hours, so you cannot select both gtc and extended hours).  You can set a specific date/time for orders to initiate or cancel, so you could actially have one order cancel and another one initiate going into open or after market.  Or there is a way to automatically attempt to get an order to fill at closing price into after market.

Unless you are trying to fill at an upper limit, you have to be careful about getting shaken out of a stock in light extended hours trading.

  4. Ditto for Scottrade. You have to specify what market you want to trade. Pre-Market, Regular, or After-Hours.

  5. My experience with TD-Ameritrade and ETrade is that you must specify trading can occur during after market hours, otherwise trading will only occur during normal hours. Check with your brokerage firm to verify.

  6. yea of course
