Will they continue to regenerate year after year, or will I need to reseed every Spring? I live in a temperate climate w/ warm summers, cold winters and cool winter and spring seasons...

  1. they can if they go to seed, but the whole reason to grow them is to eat the fruit...  careful not to plant to close though they can cross pollinate and you can get hybridized i.e. mixed flavored; peppers.

i live in zone 5 (massachusetts i had some tomatos and peppers go crazy and produce more than i  could eat and they have come back for the last 2 years but i expect i will have to replant next summer

  2. All of the peppers are perennials, but they have to be in a tropical climate or taken inside anywhere it frosts even a little.  I have a habanero plant that is over five years old and still produces loads of fruits.

  3. Peppers, like most vegetables, are annuals but if you have them in containers you could extend the growing/harvest season by bringing them inside before the first frost.  Peppers are very frost sensitive.

And, if the peppers are a heirloom variety, they will reseed easily.  Hybrids either take forever to sprout or they sprout very slowly.
