  1. The peach tree that produced your fruit was more than likely a genetic clone chosen for quality of fruit it produced. The pit IS a seed of that tree, but seed carries random combinations of genes from it and another peach tree. So the likely hood that you will get a productive tree with the good fruit.

BUUUT it is a seed and can be germinated. It first needs to be soaked for 24 hours THEN kept damp in the refrigerator four at least 3-4 months. This is called stratification and simulates what the seed goes through during a winter and its absolutely necessary to break the dormancy of the seed. When this is done, sow the seed into damp warm potting mix and allow some time for the seed to germinate. Keeping it DAMP not wet while this process takes place.

GOOD LUCK!!!! (but it might be easier to go spend $30 at a nursery and buy a peach tree ;-) )
