  1. Visit the cockpit. That will help.

  2. yes, prayer is a form of meditation, and it will relax you

  3. planes as in airplanes?

    planes of existence?

    planes in geomety?

    planes as in carpenters tool?

  4. My mom used to tell me when I was little,

Close your eyes, and pray to Saint Mary during take off.

  5. If you truly believe it could have a placebo effect I suppose.

  6. Prayer is what you do when you can't do anything useful about a problem.

In my experience, confrontation is the best way to overcome a fear.  Acquaint yourself with the physics involved in flight.  Bernoulli's Principle, for example.  Take a tour of a cockpit, like others suggested.

My girlfriend prefers Dramamine and NyQuil when she flies.

  7. I cannot vouch for prayer, as I do not pray, but it gives others comfort to do so.

Geometry can be a frightening subject, as I well remember, from my youth, but keep in mind that planes are only one small part of a greater field of mathematical study.

At least you're not afraid of angles, or elliptical curves.

  8. Placebos have the potential to do that. You can also try some anxiety meds. Good luck.

  9. Try keeping one paw on the ground.

  10. Prayer will help you stay focused on God.  Faith in God being who He says He is and faith in Christ should help with the fear issues.

When I say to pray, I don't mean like:  "God please don't let my plane collide with another."  (Then sit and hope and wish that the prayer will be honored.)   I mean pray as in speaking to God Himself and affirming what He tells us in His word--that He dispatches angels to encompass and protect us from harm.  Thank Him in advance in that confidence you have in what He's told us.

Also allow the Holy Spirit to work from the inside out because fear shouldn't even be a factor in the life of someone who is in Christ.

Just one more thought the enemy, Satan, suggests to use to grab us mentally to plant "seeds of doubt" (about God's protection), nurture that "seed" and make it grow into a picture that we often tend to believe more than God.  No sooner than we (believers) say that we trust God, Satan will come along and try to make a liar out of us.

Concern is legitimate.  Concern and fear are not the same thing.  Unfortunately, yes, planes do cross paths.  When that happens, physical life MAY end but we do live eternally someplace.  The choice is ours.  If we have chosen the Lord, then we are with God eternally.  The knowledge of that should be enough to quash any fears or doubts about God.

Have you chosen?  If so, let go of the fear and let God be God (which means He is ultimately in control of all things).  He cares for us and has concern for us.
