Do I need to have a TV with an HDMI input?

  1. if u wanna get the advantage of ur dvd player then yes.


  2. Yes and no.  If your television set only has DVI inputs, you can always get a cable that has HDMI on one end, DVI on the other, and attach them that way.  Keep in mind, however, that your sound will have to be rigged seperately, since DVI doesn't handle audio.

    Otherwise, as a poster above me indicated, you'll have to use component connections, which don't handle upconversion (at least, on a set-top box) and will keep the signal at 480i/480p.  

  3. If you want to use the upconverting function , yes. But the player has standard video outputs as well. But component output on DVD players supports only up to 480p.

  4. i have an upconverting dvd player and i have an hdtv and the picture quality is wonderful. so i say yes if you want your picture to be in hd. but...you still can use it on a tude tv. get the hdtv!
