I am looking to purchase a Delphi MyFI Satellite Radio reciever from E-Bay, it is used but works fine, according to the auction page. I'm wondering after I buy it, what do I do to activate it? I am in Canada, FYI. Also, what plans are available? How is the signal strength (in Toronto) ? And are there monthly packages available, or must I sign a 1+ year contract?

  1. I am new to xm myself and don't have it yet, but i asked a similar question..I said if I got it from my friend, could I activate it...they told me yes, every radio has a number. Also there is a web site www.xmradio.ca that has more info and a phone number.

  2. Yes, you will be able to activate it. Every radio has its own ID # which is what XM uses to identify each radio. You just enter channel sero, and your ID pops up. There are no contracts with satellite radio, you pay month-to-month unless you want to pay a year in advance. Usually, you are billed in three month segments unless you want otherwise. I don't know about signal strength in Toronto, but XM has repeaters in addition to their satellites to make sure the signal is always available and there is no loss in service. I live in DC, and the signal is never a problem.
