If I purchase a faster ADSL modem, will it increase my broadband speed?

Will a faster DSL modem increase my broadband speed, or does it depend on the service? Also, can I purchase an SDSL modem if I subscribe to ADSL service?

Not really. Most of your bandwidth depends on the connection you have. In effect the modem just translates it to something your computer can read. So if u get a faster connection but have a 'slow' modem it would work faster.

Some times the computer is constantly checking for updates. That sucks alot of your bandwidth. You may wanna look at that.

I really dont think that SDSL modem will work with ur ADSL

they use different spectrums. but SDSL is considered slow and its not really good for home use. its for buisnesses

no it will not make any difference

these days people are mostly on upto services . This means you get what the  line supports

sdsl uses a dedicated line with no voice service this is different than adsl

Dont wate urs money in purchasing any sdsl or adsl modem becoz urs speed fixed with urs internet plan like if u have 256 plan u will get only 256 not 1024 but if u know how to hack like me u can enjoy greater amount of speed on the same router like iam  having 256 plan and i get 2mps speed i hacked 5-6 big account isnt cool? and i have the same ADSL router so forget about purchasing new router..okay??

It depends on the capability of your ISP's service to you, and the abilities of your router: Most current routers will run at 16Mbps, and your line will support up to 8Mbps, so you wouldn't see a difference.

SDSL routers can be reconfigured to work, but your upstream speed is limited by your ISP's terminal equipment, you won't get any quicker uploads.

depends on the service.  Get cable it's more stable and faster.
