  1. Did the contract obligate them to give you the CD?  If not, no.  Call Sony, they will likely send you one if you bought it from them.

  2. You can only legally obtain a copy of Windows Vista if it was supposed to come with the laptop or if you buy a copy.  You can purchase one online or at a store, however you will not always receive a copy of the latest software when you buy computers.

  3. Maybe, ask the company for the CD-KEY wich most likely they wont give you ...

  4. Every computer I ever bought has a system restore disk that reinstalls the factory settings, including the operating system.

But if you want a separate CD of Windows, they will charge you for it.

  5. You can call Sony and request a copy, or also contact Microsoft customer support and they'll send you one for a small fee.

Alternatively you could wipe that piece of garbage off of your machine and install Ubuntu.

  6. .   Yes, if the computer and operating system are registered to you.

  7. You can buy windows software from microsoft and upgrade it to vista. Just be sure you get a genuine copy and not a burned copy from a friend. This will insure that you get your own product code.

  8. No, unless the purchase agreement specifically says it will include a Vista operating system.

You purchased the laptop from sony, not the rights from Microsoft.  Sony has rights to use the software which does not extend to the buyer.

  9. As long as you got the sticker with the windows key it doesnt matter much about the CD as you can reinstall Windows with another CD.
