Question:

If I put a brush guard on the front of my truck will it interfere with the functionality of the airbag?

Just wondering. The racks are great protection and look good, but I don't want to create a problem where the airbag doesn't work. I also don't want to get in a situation where the guard is actually doing it's thing and set the bag off on accident.

Oh, it's a 2000 dodge dakota SLT quad cab.

Any input would be appreciated.

  1. i would think it wouldn't but i would talk to the dealership first to be on the safe side

  2. No. The sudden impact on the front end will occur whether you have a brush guard or not. The sensor are mounted to the frame.

  3. There is no conclusive or comprehensive data at this time regarding air bag deployment and grille guards, and opinions vary to say the least.

Most of our grille guards are considered medium-strength grille guards (excluding winch-specific models), suitable for pushing a vehicle, but one that will crush in a high-speed accident.

If there were any issues with this then police cars and highway patrol cars would not have them on their vehicles.

  4. Don't worry about it.

    Just do it.
