If I put salt in my INTEX 15' 48" pool. Will any filter work to genrate the salt into chlorine?

I have a filter that comes with the pool.....will it generate the salt into the pool without a salt generator?

I'm afraid not. A cartridge filter's job is to filter particulate matter out of the water. A salt generator, on the other hand, is a separate piece or equipment that does the job of converting the salt present in the pool, into chlorine. They aren't one and the same.

No, a filter does not generate chlorine.  It just filters the water.  

According to the Intex site, the system they sell has a converter unit (the Chlorine Generator) that chemically changes the salt in the water into a small amount of sodium hypochlorite.
