I have a 88 mazda 929, and i want to put bigger tires on it, if i raise the car up, will this work? Not to be a jerk, but i know the complications, if you get bigger tires your speedometer and junk get messed up. Right now if i put bigger tires i wont be able to clear the front.

  1. you also reduse the steering lock or turning circle

  2. If you are going big enough to require lifting the car the speedometer is the least of your problems.  They may rub when you turn or go over bumps requiring some fender work.  Your larger heavier wheels will slow the acceleration and increase the braking distances.  Its also a lot more stress on your suspension which on a 21 yr old car could kill your car the rest of the way.

Why spend the money on a 21 yr old car?  Put that money into a new car since this one is probably close to dead anyways.
