If I receive a letter saying I am getting stimulus refund and am I for sure getting it?

The reason I am asking this question is because I received a letter from the IRS stateing I may owe taxes I have til the end of the month to respond back but I received a letter telling me that I am getting $900 stimulus rebate and get it on the 5th of july but didnt reive it yet which Friday was the 4th so it may have delayed it a little. So since I received a letter saying I am getting it am I? Would have they let me know if I wasnt?

you proabbaly wont since you are owing taxes, 99 percent of people that were supposed to get there check on the fifth havent gotten theirs yet.. we havent, so we hopin for monday :)

if in six weeks you havent gotten it yet then call the irs

Maybe!  The IRS has not made it clear as to the point in the collection process they are stopping the disbursement of stimulus checks.  I believe the reason is that they did not know when they started how they would deal with that issue.  My guess is that you will get a check as the collection letter is not final until the end of the month.

The letter you received is IRS letting you know you are eligible for the rebate and the amount you are eligible for and if no debt then expect the rebate at this date.

But since you owe and if your debt has been assessed then IRS will offset the rebate to pay your debt. Did you receive a CP2000, if so then more than likely the amount has not been assessed because IRS is waiting for you to respond, and most of the times the refund/rebate will be issued.

You'll probably get the stimulus check since from what you wrote it appears that the additional assessment has not been made yet. As for the date, the letter should have said the check was mailed on the 5th, not received by that date. Only those who live very near to Austin Texas actually received it on the 5th.

By the way, I assume you'll be turning around and sending this money back to pay the taxes you owe?
