You know, kinda like how if the bayonet is folded in on a mosin nagant m44 it doesn't shoot right as it was sighted for the bayonet?

How much weight woud that take off too?

  1. I have removed several of those useless chunks of steel with no noticeable effect.

I did buy a junker Yugo SKS that some Bubba had gone after to take off the grenade launcher and literally bent and twisted the barrel. It was bent to one side maybe a quarter inch and twisted about an eighth of a turn. I guess he just put it in a vise and put all his 350 pounds into it! I got a used barrel and made a true carbine out of it.

My point is, don't just start wrenching it off. Make sure you follow the advice of others that have done it. Take out the pins, let soak with penetrating oil for a good week, then use the torch to heat it up. This of course ruins the finish, but I've re-Parkerized mine anyway.

  2. No not at all and pretty much none at all

I removed mine and felt no real difference at all and suffered no decline in accuracy

  3. I'd leave it alone there isn't really any benifiet one way or another then maybe a little lighter in weight, they're not as heavy as a m203 so weight shouldn't be an issue.
