  1. No.  But there is factors  involved how many miles is on the tranny and why is the engine being replaced.  Did the tranny still shift ok?  If i were to replace the engine i would change all of the tranny fluid that means train the torque converter also.  Maybe even an over haul kit 80-150 bucks.  But it depends.  If it shifted fine then just change the fluid and filter on the tranny.


  2. no, not typically .. however if you have abused your motor, chances are good you will have to replace your transmission soon... good luck,jim

  3. No but if it's not in the best of shape now's the time to do it. It's often easier to remove the engine and transmission together.  

  4. Assuming you are replacing the engine with the same engine (ie GM 3800 with a GM 3800) then no.  If you are changing to a different motor than the one you are removing then you will have to check for compatibility.  Some motor/tranny combo's do not work together. Hope that helps  =)
