  1. It depends on the state you are in. That is what was told to me by an insurance adjuster in Missouri when I had a table fall into the door of my truck when I was unloading it.

Comprehensive coverage is to cover accidental damage not related to a collision such as fire, hail, theft, falling objects, ect. You DO NOT have to make a claim to your insurance carrier on this, especially if you live in a state where they can raise your rates as comprehensive coverage is not required by law. I would highly recommend not filing a claim regardless if your damage was not caused by a collision and your cost of repair is under the cost of your deductible regardless of the state you are living in.

  2. If you get in an accident, you are required to inform your insurance company, by law.

    That's the law.

    Give them a call.

  3. The claim will count against your rating.

I'd call my allstate agent and ask what effect it would have, he'd advise me & I could make an informed decision about whether to make a claim.  Have done this on potential homeowners claims.

Don't know about other agents/companies -- possible they'd put it on your record anyway once you talked to 'em.

    Guess I haven't helped much ---------

  4. It goes against you only if you were at fault.  If you were not at fault, you still have to report it, but the insurance company does not count it against you, and it won't raise your rates.

  5. It Sounds like you are really screwed up by this problem. Hope you could get good luck here.http://insurance.online-frees.info/insur...
