If I run my blu ray player in the receiver with HDMI, how can i watch a movie just with tv and not 5.1?

my receiver has to be on so sound will come out of the speakers.,even just in stereo.

The HDMI cable also sends the audio informaton to the television.

Your question does not makes sense, as you have written it. However, I've a feeling what you are trying to say is related to your TV or cable box, having just one HDMI input or output. If so, be aware that you can buy an HDMI splitter (takes 1 HDMI output and adds more outputs) or an HDMI switch (selects 1 input from more than 1).

You have to run 2 a/v connections: one set to the receiver, one set to the tv.
