If I send in a donation to Amnesty International or another charity will they send me a receipt via mail?

I got a thing in the mail asking for a donation so I figured I'd do one but I'm not sure if I have to copy the check and things so I have documentation for tax purposes or if they will send me a receipt in the mail and that will suffice when tax time comes around... anyone know this stuff I'm new to this stuff =-x

The answer is typically, yes.  Why not do it online and get an instant receipt?  I prefer online donations however each site typically has instruction on how to mail in your payment.  IF it s Amnesty Int'l you are most intererst it you can call to confirm it at 1-800- AMNESTY.  Forms are listed at the site below.

The  canceled  check  you  receive  with  your  statement  

Will  work  as  a  receipt  if   you  are  audited .
