Okay lets say someone bought something from me worth over $1,000 and I have to ship it to Africa. It breaks on the way over there, is it their fault for not buying insurance? or is it my fault and do I have to pay the person back?

Thank you

  1. well if you offered for them to pay insurance and they declined on it then you took it to the packing service like ups to have them pack it and ship it. If it where to break the UPS would pay for it or replace it. Eather way it would not come out fo your pocket.

  2. If the wrapping breaks they will rewrap it. If the entire thing falls apart during translation i bet they'd send it to you broken anyway.....They won't open it and see if its broken- then get it fixed....you'll just have a broken item in your living room in nice wrapping. Unless its Via UPS. they're responsible- but most other shipping companies don't give a woot.

  3. are referring to Ebay? If you offered insurance on the item at the time they paid shipping and the buyer declined to pay for insurance and it broke in transit, then they are responsible for not purchasing insurance on the item, in other words they are out of luck.  Go after the shipper because most transit companies like UPS or FedEx automatically insure the items up to $100

  4. I would think it would be their fault for not buying insurance but check with your local U.P.S or whoever you are shipping it with to make sure.

  5. You would get refunded most of your money.   I am pretty sure whatever company you use is sure to refund most or all of your money.  The only reason would be be cause it is thier fault for breaking an item that doesn't belong to them.  So, if you don't get your money back if they break the item, I feel really bad for you.

  6. Whoever was responsible for buying insurance, should have bought it.

  7. well you shouldn't have to pay extra money, just as long as you wrapped it and followed the rules of shipping. but talk to the person who told you to send it, and hopefully you can talk with the people you sent your item to and they can reimburse you with at least half of the money. you shouldn't have to pay insurance if they (the company) broke it.

    hope this helps =)
