  1. I think your line rental has to stay with them but you can change your call providor straight away.  But check the small print first.

  2. caras right, you only need to keep the line rental with bt. you can change that as well but if done within the 12 month commitment period you would get a cancellation charge.

  3. Typically when you set up a new landline you will be tied into an annual contract. Vonage don’t tie you into annual contracts. If you have a broadband connection you could easily use Vonage to make cheap calls using your normal home phone. Visit www.vonage.co.uk for more details

  4. when you sign up it's a 12 month contract but what you can do is stay with bt for your line rental which is option1 and use cps which is when your calls go over another provider, so you would get one bill for line rental only from bt and another bill from your cps,

  5. you are tied into the actual landline for 12 mths

  6. These days when BT installs a new land line they almost certainly will put you on a fixed time contract, you will have to read the fine detail to be certain. However if is just having a line which already exists, even if it is disconnected then you might be able to switch after re-connection.

It may be possible to switch call plans to another supplier, without altering the line rental with BT. After your contract then you will be free to switch both call plan and rental.

The company I use switched both my rental and call plan and I did not notice any problems, now I save a considerable amount of money.

  7. When we joined we had to stay for minimum of 1 year, so be warned.

  8. The simple answer is a resounding NO!.....
