If I set up port forwarding for my laptop at home, will I be able to connect to my colleges wireless network?

I want to set up port forwarding to make an azureus download go faster. I'm getting speeds that are consistently around 1.5 kb/s. I did the speed test and got a max speed of 205 kb/s, so there is obviously a problem. I'm confident that I can do the port forwarding because I've done it before, but I want to know if I'll be able to connect to the wireless network at my college. When I get to school will I have to reconfigure my network settings?

  1. You will have to reconfigure at school because it most likely will be a different connection.

You might want to check this guide on setting Vuze (formerly Azureus) up for best speed

  2. Yes you will. It's simply going to your wireless settings and changing the tcp/ip protocol to default instead of having it static.
