If I stay in the barracks, stateside, and my family lives in another state, do i still collect BAH?

depends on how your orders are written.  If they are Accompanied, you forfeit BAH because you are living in the Barracks.  If they are UNaccompanied, you get BAH based on your family's location.  

GEOBachelors are frowned upon in many cases.. you either forfeit BAH, are not even permitted to live in Barracks at all, or you still receive BAH but must pay for the Barracks.

You can't live in the barracks & still receive BAH. If you're living in barracks then what would have been given to you as BAH is instead applied as your payment for living in the barracks.

Yeah, you'd be considered a geo-bachelor.  If by family you mean wife and/or kids.  Talk to your chain of command about it.

You can not receive BAH and live in the barracks. This can be waived by your command at that duty station. It must be a genuine hardship where it is in the families best interest to remain where they are at and not just convenience .or dislike of the new location.

Revision.  If you are talking about your wife and kids contact your first Sergeant.  You may qualify for BAH still.

Yes it is possible I've done it for my best friend his wife was x and he was x. So I gave him the BAH and than your supposed to send that money to her. But hey thats not on me I just give it to you, but you do need to provide a lease. Why not just move her to where you are? Than find a place off base or live on base?

Edit: There is no accompanied or un when dealing within the states. Either your family moves or they don't the commander can approve it. I have seen it done IT IS POSSIBLE TO LIVE IN B'S AND GET BAH
