Question:

If I stop eating red meat...?

I was just wondering if I stop eating red meat will I'll be losing anything absolutely necessary from my diet that I might need to eat other foods to make up for it?

I'm not going entirely vegetarian here, only red meat. I still eat a lot of foods to get proteins -- mostly chicken, salmon, and cheese (I'm not a big fan of milk or eggs as I've had bad experiences with both; I usually avoid them entirely. I do have a calcium chew thing though to make up for lack of milk)

Help would be appreciated :)

(Also, does anyone know other benefits/detriments to doing this?)

  1. Nope. Red meat (beef, pork, lamb) is really bad for you. If you stop eating it, you're only losing the bad things---higher risk of cancer, high cholesterol, high blood pressure---and gaining the good. Yay pollotarians =D

  2. Don't worry if we can survive as vegiterians with no meat I am like 99.99999999999999999999999999 % sure you can survive with no red meats

  3. You will be in better health in doing so!  No worries

  4. Red meats contain iron which can be substituted by consuming things like spinach, or through vitamin supplements.

If you eat an otherwise balanced diet, then I wouldn't worry about replacing it over much.

  5. no but you'll be sorrrrrry

  6. Why only stop eating red meat?  You do know that chicken, pork, fish, and other so-called "lean meats" have just as much cholesterol, fat, and calories, right? Those other meats are just as bad for you.

  7. Let's look at this from both sides. On the one hand: meat DOES have plenty of fats and other bad **** in it. On the other hand: It's good. God apologized to mankind NOT by giving us corn or celery, but by telling us that every living thing is ours to eat. Plus, Noah left plants to either die or thrive in the flood, but he took the animals cause meat was important.

My final point: no, you honestly won't be missing anything by abandoning red meat, but you'll be doing yourself a huge injustice! Meat is wonderful, let anyone deny that! Why would you want to give it up? If it's for weight loss, guess what? It won't work.

Just like not eating food at all, not eating meat doesn't guarantee you anything. Everyone has a different body type, different metabolisms, ect. So if you enjoy red meat, don't give it up. You can cut back on it (as little or as much as you want), but still enjoy it every now and then.

  8. :o) You would do your body a huge favor by not eating red meat.  If you are eating chicken and fish you will not miss red meat.  You don't really need any meat, but I'm not here to tell you that, just that you won't miss anything from avoiding red meat.
