If I store raw garlic in my cabinet where mice usually come in will they stay away?

Is there a hole in the cabinet that lets the mice in?  If so, stuff the hole full of 0000 steel wool.

No it wont, you will be providing it with food is all.

Above is correct steel wool will help keep the mice from entering from that entrance. On top of that I would drop a little poison in the same hole before its filled.

No, but their breath will be worse so you'll be able to track them through the house and see where they come in.
