  1. Olympic pool length is 50 meters by 25 meters. When there are no competitions, there is a "wall" at 25 meters. So, convert your 24 feet in meters: and one length in the pool is  25 meters. You do it 20 times you're at 500m, which is a good run ( should take you about 14 minutes to complete).

  2. 24*20 = 480 feet = 160 yards = a little over six laps in a 25 yard pool or 3 laps in an olympic-sized 50m pool

  3. I'm assuming you're swimming *around* the perimeter of the pool -- not just across it. If you are swimming across the pool, disregard my answer.

If your pool is 24 feet in diameter, that means the circumference (pi x D) is 3.14 x 24 = 75.4 feet = about 25 yards. The circumference of your pool is roughly equal to the length of a "standard" lap pool in the US.

Since you aren't swimming right on the rim of the pool, you are swimming a little less than 25 yards each time. Say your body is centered on a line 2 feet from the wall as you swim. That means the line you are swimming is pi x 20ft = 63 feet. Twenty times around then is 20 x 63 ft = 1260 ft = 420 yards. That's nearly 17 lengths of a 25 yard pool.

If you are able to squeeze within a foot of the wall while you swim, each "lap" is pi x 22ft = 69 feet. Twenty of your laps is then 1380 ft = 460 yards = 18+ lengths of a 25 yard pool.

  4. Well, in the Olympics- it's usually measured in meters.  However, for high school and other swimming teams, it can be measured in yards.  So, I'll go with that standard here.  Let's say the pool is 25 yards long.  There are 3 feet in a yard.  So the average pool lap (2 lenghts of the pool- one end to the other and back) is 150 feet.  You swam (20x24) 480 feet.  So that would mean you swam approximately 3.2 laps, or 6.4 lengths
