I have both my Auto and Homeowners through Nationwide right now. I can switch my Auto to Geico, get the same coverage and save $60 per month. If I switch to Geico, will I lose my multi-policy discount if my Homeowners premium is already fully paid?

  1. Yes. Most companies will give you a discount if you hjave both auto and h/o with the same company.  They won;t bill you, but when you renew the h./o, they will see you dropped your auto coverage and will charge you the higher rate.

You have to company what extra Nationwide would charge, to what you would have by going to Geico.

The discount is probably no more than 5 %.

  2. Yes, you'll lose that multi policy discount.

And when you buy that Geico policy, it might cost more than was originally quoted.

  3. I am a Nationwide agent, and yes, they will delete the multi-policy discount from your policy. When you cancel your auto insurance with Nationwide, they will send you a bill for the additional premium due on your homeowners policy, even if it was already paid in full.
