  1. just bring enough for your trip

save a lot of hassle with doctor's here(bring script with you just in case you lose any)

  2. no

you better pack enough for your stay

  3. You cannot fill a prescription in Australia if it was not written by a Doctor currently registered with a prescriber number in australia.

The price you have to pay will depend on which brand of contraceptive pill you are using and which pharmacy you go to. If you go to a discount pharmacy (chemist) 3 months worth of "microgynon 20" would be around $30 Australian, "Diane 35" would be about $45-50 for 3 months supply.

It would also cost you the price of a doctors consultation to get the script written - between 30 and 70 Australian dollars

  4. No, it comes under our medicare scheme so you need to be a citizen.  You should just fill your prescriptions in the US and bring them with you, this will be ok.

  5. I don't think that overseas prescriptions can be filled by Australian pharmacists.

If you can't bring enough pills to cover your stay in Australia, you will need to visit an Australian doctor for a prescription. The visit will cost around $60 and the cost of the drugs will depend on the brand, but will most likely be something in excess of $30 for each month.

If you bring more than a single month's supply, you should declare the drugs upon arrival and you would be wise to have a letter of explanation from your doctor.

BTW, even if you take out private medical insurance to cover your stay, birth control drugs will not be covered.
