If I take a traction pad off a board that it is currently on, will it stick and stay on another board?

I want to get a traction pad for my woodie skimboard but dont want to pay another $35 for a traction pad when I get a foam skimboard. Does anyone know if traction pads stick on a board after they had been on one before?

  1. Most likely not... the pad shouldn't come off very cleanly either. The adhesive isn't meant to be reusable, so when you stick it on the first time, it's not gonna come off nice and clean to restick somewhere else. It might work, but definitely won't last as long as a new traction pad. Try it out and if it works (maybe use some spray glue or something) then you saved money, and if it falls off, then invest in a new one.

I tried that with a surfboard.. part of the pad came off so I wanted to take the rest off with it. It was a pain to peel off, most of the adhesive stuck to my surfboard so its wasn't even on the pad itself anymore, and it got dirt and other stuff in it. It lasted on another board for 2 sessions and came off.

  3. I would not take that chance. It is probably like any other sticky surface and will deteriate and not stick as well. Pay another $35 just to be safe.

  4. I wouldn't recommend it. If a "transplanted" traction pad stuck at all, I don't think it'd stay stuck on anywhere near as well. Your safety and your fun matter. It would seem well worth the extra $35. :)
