If I take dishTV or directv standard(not HD) connection for my hdtv, will I get atleast some hd channels?

Because few months back, when I had standard(normal) charter connection, I got 3-4 hd channels(crystal clear).

Please let me know about this. Thanks in advance.

  1. No - not through the receiver, but you can switch to your off-air input with an antenna and probably get 5 or 6 HD channels when they all go digital.

  2. you can't get HD channels unless you have an HD signal.

if even you get a picture they are not HD

  3. If you get Dish or DTV with a standard reciever, you will not get any HD channels.  You will need a HD reciever to get HD channels.

  4. With direct tv you must have a HD box with them. But you may be able to get some over the air HD channels. Depending on where you live.
