And would the discount in insurance at 18, should there be one, offset the higher premium from now to 18? I'm 16.

  1. your insurance rate will be high no matter what age you take drivers ed. You can get a lower premium by getting on honor roll and some insurance companies will give you a lower rate if you do there drivers program such as State Farm in some states

  2. All I can say is...if you are male, don't count on your rates going down until you are at least 25. Insurance companies are biased towards us.

Good thing is you are at least getting in now. Some states are planning on raising the driving age to 18 or 21.

    Good Luck!

  4. Driver's Ed does help lower insurance costs, but you won't get really good rates until you are 25.  Your premiums are still going to be pretty high.

  5. No It does not matter if youve been driving since you were 2.. They are going to get yo no matter what... My insurance is high but it just started to go down and im only 19...

  6. No, you will get @ss raped with insurance and there's no way to avoid it.

Im 17, male, unmarried, and i drive a sports car = worst insurance combonation on the planet. I pay like 195 a month (thats with a discount)

  7. Your insurance rates won't go down until you are 25, unless you get married first in which case your rates will be reduced.

  8. It lowers your insurance, but not by much.

Around here I believe it is 5%

Either way you're going to be paying alot for insurance until you're about 25 years old.
