If I take my antibiotics for wisdom teeth, will it mess up my birth control?

I heard antibiotics can reduce effectiveness but i'm not sure if it will with this kind. It' suppose to reduce swelling and i'm going to be taking it for 2 days before i go in for surgery.

  2. It will make your pill less effective. If your going to have s*x, use a back up method like condoms until the antibiotics are out of your system. Also, if you go tanning or are out in the sun a lot, be careful! Antibiotics will cause you to burn easily.

  3. Yeah it messes up the pill, it does for mine anyway.

    It should say in the leaflet that came with your contraception whether antibiotics mess it up.

    Definitely use a condom while you're on the antibiotics, and for 2 weeks after you come off the antibiotics.

    Tell your dentist you're on the pill, and see what he/she says.

  9. Yes, it is true.  use back up for as long you are on antibiotics. Some natural treatments can affect birth control as well.

  10. Yes Antibiotics can affect oral birth control.  Use back up BC for a couple of weeks.

  11. It's a 50/50 chance. With my personal exp. It did affect my birth control and i didn't realize it until a month later and i was pregnant. The antibiotic decreases the affect of the birth control. To be on the safe side talk to your Dr. Best of luck and take care

  12. I know penicillin can mess it up because I had my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday and on the bottle it says don't take with birth control.
