If I take out "fresh" ear piercings everyday for football will they get infected?

I want to get my ears pierced but its required that for practice and games we take them out. If I take them out everyday for practice and games, but leave them in all the time otherwise, will they get infected?

I also heard putting a band-aid or tape over them to keep them clean, does this work? Would I have to take out the piercing to tape it up?

  1. Probably wont get infected but will be likely to close up. Dont put any band aids on them please.

  2. Seriously, wait until your season is over.

You won't be able to take them out and put them back in right after getting pierced. The holes can close up very quickly and you can get a lot of scar tissue by just shoving them back in.

If you left them in and covered them, they would still be irritated, first by covering them (helps create a warm moist environment where bacteria love to breed) and by your helmet pushing against them.

You would have a very hard time healing the piercing, open yourself to unnecessary risks of infection and scars. Do yourself a favor and get pierced in the off season.
