Like a trainer or team doctor or something like that. I'm not sure what it is called so if that is not what I am thinking of and you know what I am talking about please tell me.

Thanks.

  1. Probably not.  To become a trainer, you'd need at least a Bachelor's degree in physical therapy.  To become a team physician, of course, you'll need your M.D.  EMT classes won't help achieve either goal.

  2. If you want to become a team doctor, you need to go to medical school and get an MD.  Then you need to do your residency training in either family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or orthopedic surgery with an emphasis on sports medicine.  The doctor that I know who is the team doctor for the USC football team was an internal medicine doctor who also trained in sports medicine.

Your EMT course will not help for the most part.  However, it could be an interesting aspect of your application for medical school if you currently working as an EMT, but you will need to have the grades, courses, and MCAT scores first.
