  1. No.You don't need a passport for land travel but on the other hand you do need it for the plane.

  2. YES! They are searching more thoroughly now after 9/11. The police will get onto the bus and ask for a passport. For confirmation, call the boarder patrol in Mexico to get a straight forward answer.

    Happy vacationing!

  3. when i travel to mexico from houston in a bus we just go straight into mexico.they never bother us on entering but you do need it because when you come bacc, they defenetly need to.

  4. No, not until 2008. If you travel by car you don'tt need one yet, only by plane. I know this because my husbands family is from Guadalajara and my step-mom is from Michiocan. I called the embasy and they gave me this info because my BIL and SIL are getting married in Mexico in OCT and DEC and we needed to know the cheapest way to travel.....if we go by car we don't need passports but its like a 30 hrs drive, if we go by plane its like $2000 plus passports, another $400...but we get there in like 3-4 hrs?????????

  5. Passports are NOT currently required for LAND travel to and from Mexico, but will be as soon as Jan. 2008.  It certainly does not hurt to have one.  it is currently taking about 5 months to get a passport, so it would be wise to go ahead and apply for one.
