  1. Common form is to tip a little bit from each pot.

If you have an amazing night and want to give a little more, I guess you can.

  2. $200 is 5% of your win ($4,000).  It is your money to give.  The tip was more than generous.

I normally tip a dollar or two per pot won by me.  These dollars add up to a $50,000 annual pay for most dealers.  Say a dealer works 2,000 hours per year and puts out 25 hands per hour (50,000 hands per year).

  3. When I play at a live table, I usually just tip the dealer when I win a pot, not a percentage at the end of the session.  It is unlikely the dealer at the end was there for the whole session anyway, so I just tip as I go.

  4. That is a fine tip, but it also depends on how you won it.  If you won it all in a single hand of a live cash game then it is a bit too much in my opinion.  I usually will tip up to $25 - $50 even on the large pots that are several thousand dollars.  Typically you give one or two of the chips in the game you are playing... such as with $1 or $5 chips.

If you won the money in a tournament, then by all means $200 is a great tip.  Generally speaking, the top 3 people in a tournament will tip the dealer and $200 is fine.

  5. If there was one dealer for the table for the entire session and you were playing no-limit, that was more than generous.  As the answerer above said, normally you would tip pot-by-pot, usually a chip or two of the total.

  6. that was fine you just got lucky

  7. You should tip as you win each pot.  I have never been in a poker room where the dealers weren't on a push (change from table to table).  If you notice, each time a dealer leaves the table, he is carrying a little box which mounts on the table, that is the tip box.  It goes with the dealer.
